| THE CENTER The Centre de Recherche et de Formation Scientifique (CRFS) is the first of the educational and meeting centers of our Foundation. With its technical equipment, modern infrastructure, refectory and housing accommodations, it is ideally suited as a social center and meeting place for undergraduate and graduate students, including those working on their doctorate, in a wide range of disciplines. Locally important research subjects include agricultural sciences and botany, climatology and meteorology, soil science and geology, as well as socioeconomics and sociology. Examples of current research include satellite-supported analysis and evaluation of changes in vegetation, climatological observations, the effect and significance of soil erosion with respect to sedimentation of the reservoir, as well as the cultivation and study of domestic plants with special attention to medical plants. | | The operation of the Center started in 2005. Since its opening, the Center's infrastructure has been used by many guests and researchers. Members of the German Society for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and the German Development Service (DED) are regular visitors, and on two occasions the DED has already conducted two-day conferences on "Development of the Rural Areas". In September 2006, the Center was fully booked for the GLOWA- Workshop with 30 participants. Such events benefit from the combination of meeting facilities with overnight accommodations, immediate proximity to rural terrain, and a broad infrastructure. |
