INTER-SCHOOL EXCHANGE

School children in Wilhelmshaven have recently established contact with an elementary school in Dano through the good offices of the Dreyer Foundation. Both sides would like to learn about the daily lives of the others. So they are exchanging text, images and videos through the Foundation. While visiting Germany in 2006, Mr. Schmengler joined Jan Witte, the home-room teacher, in a visit to a class of schoolchildren in Wilhelmshaven, during which he spent two hours telling the German children about the life and education of the African children, and showing slides as well as a video he had made. In the hours preceding the demo, Mr. Witte had introduced the subject and provided background information. Now the youngsters in Wilhelmshaven are starting a project, in which they will make a video about their own lives and interests. This exchange will be broadened and continued. If other schools are interested in such an exchange between students, we will be happy to mediate between them and other schools that would support such projects. For inquiries contact:

TEACHER TRAINEESHIP

In cooperation with the Center for Teacher Education
of the University of Münster, Westphalia, we are currently mediating between two candidates and the school board in Dano for a teaching post. Traineeships lasting several weeks are obligatory for student teachers, and the trainee gets to choose the location. While the Center for Teacher Education guarantees the preparatory didactic training for the students as well as the credits for the service, we provide their housing accommodations and meals plus on-site supervision at the CFRS. The first four of these trainees, all women, will be enrolled in the spring of 2007. For inquiries contact:
